CARBON REDUCTION PLAN

Publication date: First carbon management Emission Plan 17 January 2025

Castle of Mercy provides services ranging from domiciliary care and supported living, complex care at home, mental healthcare directly to patients. Castle of Mercy stands as private limited healthcare provider personnel boasting excellence and extensive experience in care.

Castle of Mercy, as a supplier of healthcare services to the local communities, commits to achieving Net Zero by 2050 in alignment with the requirements of PPN 06/21. This Carbon Reduction Plan outlines our strategy for reducing emissions across all scopes, details our current emissions, and describes the environmental management and carbon reduction measures in place. This commitment was made on 17/01 /2025. This aligns with our organisational values and the expectations of our clients, including the NHS.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured. Our baseline carbon footprint assessment has calculated emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 for the current (baseline) reporting year -

2024/25 . These figures establish our starting point for measuring progress towards our targets.

BASELINE YEAR: 2025

Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations:

The Castle of Mercy baseline emissions calculations were determined using the Normative Business Carbon Calculator and SSE Energy Solutions which follow the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the widely used international protocol for carbon accounting. The engine uses science-based emissions data and a combination of spend-based and activity-based methods to calculate a company’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Each business activity that is input into Normative is paired with a corresponding emissions factor, which generates the calculation of its total carbon footprint:

∑ (Business activity × Emission factor) = Company Carbon Footprint

BASELINE YEAR EMISSIONS

EMISSIONS TOTAL (tCO2e)

Scope 1

Direct emissions from company-owned and controlled resources
(Fuel combustion:0:0)

Scope 2

Indirect emissions from the generation of purchased energy.
(Electricity, baseline Renewable Energy received )

Scope 3

All other indirect emissions that occur in the value chain of the company (Included sources)
Upstream transportation and distribution: 0.0** Waste generated in operations: 0.0** Business travel:0.0 Employee commuting: 0:0 Downstream transportation and distribution: 0.0** Purchased goods and services: 0.0 Capital goods: 0.0 Total Emissions 0.0

* The methodology used to calculate scope 1, 2 and 3 follows Greenhouse Gas Protocol.

** For these categories we have not measured the emissions as they are not relevant or material to our carbon footprint given the nature of our business or due to lack of direct control on data collection

Castle is dedicated to continuous improvement in our environmental performance, contributing to the NHS's goal of a Net Zero health service by 2050. Through the strategies and commitments outlined in this plan, we pledge to reduce our carbon footprint and positively impact the fight against climate change.
